We are committed to building a food identity and culture that the local community owns and values.
One of the challenges for Wodonga is that many people do not have ready access to the food they need.
In recent years, there has been a significant increase in the number of people who have been presenting at food relief agencies across Wodonga and the broader region.
There are also troubling statistics relating to the health of Wodonga people, particularly in relation to obesity in both adults and children, as well as the low rates of eating the recommended amount of vegetables and fruit.
A major focus is to advocate, educate and influence the supply and demand of local, seasonal and sustainably produced food.
We want to support pathways to our local and regional markets as they are limited and hard to access for both producers and consumers.
This will lead to a more resilient and sustainable food system, with a lower impact on the environment.
Our aims and objectives are:
A thriving local food economy and a food identity that Wodonga is proud of
Support access to healthy and safe food across the community
Everyone can access the food they need at all times
The way we produce, consume and dispose of food impacts our environment
